Reply to Today’s Daily Prompt :
Salad Days
Is there a period in your own personal life that you think of as the good old days? Tell us a story about those innocent and/or exciting times (or lack thereof).
Child stares the ceiling whole day,Barely speaks, Barely moves, Tears drooping….Takes his favourite corner of the bedWanting to collapse into himself for shelter
People seem to be his enemiesHe barely utters a wordLoves a world of his ownA world, where, being a child isn’t a crime
His mind seems to carve out an impressionHe begins to feel itFeel the moist love of his ‘companion’The companion of all times – ‘Motherly Dog’
Peeking into the his eyes;He tries to gather,Gather all moments of joy,Gather all embraces and love that he’s got
Dog tries to wipe,Wipe the pearls flowing through his eyesWants to encapsulate the child,Wants to give his all to bring a smile
Dog perishes but still he isHe is in his deeds, He is in his thoughts
And the best part He tries to be like his ‘companion’ Because everyday he strives He tries to be twice the human as he is…..

Love the imagery in this poem. Both “salad” and sad;the death of a beloved pet but also the remembrance of love. Thank you for the pingback! I might not have discovered this otherwise.

How bittersweet. You captured the emotion of losing a beloved pet very well. I particularly like the hopeful ending
